A sound level meter field check log connects a noise measurement to the equipment checks made around it. A useful record identifies the complete setup, preserves the observed readings and shows how the operator decided whether the measurement could proceed. This guide provides a template you can adapt to your measurement procedure. It does not assign a universal tolerance or replace the instructions for your meter, microphone and acoustic calibrator. What the check establishes An acoustic calibrator applies a reference signal to a compatible microphone. The observed response gives evidence about that setup at the check conditions. A check at one tone cannot establish every frequency response or measurement function. Laboratory periodic testing has a different scope.
